The idea for Mums and Bums was born in 2011 when Emma Oakden, a self confessed clothoholic was trying to help her sister Terri Oakden, a baffled cloth nappy beginner, decide which type of nappy she should put her new baby in. After many a confused phone call enquiring about “what is a fitted nappy again?” they realised there was probably a lot of families in the same boat – you want to use cloth nappies, but it's just so confusing! How much easier would it be if you could just hire a pack with a variety of different cloth nappy types to try out first? Instead of spending hundreds of dollars and countless hours online shopping, only to discover what you've bought doesn't work for you.

And so Mums and Bums began to form. There was months of research, online surveys, asking friends opinions and trialling nappies themselves. What Emma and Terri ended up with was a list of what they believe to be the most popular and well trusted brands in New Zealand, and a couple that came highly recommended from overseas.

Our aim at Mums and Bums is to take the confusion out of cloth nappying and make it affordable and accessible to every family in New Zealand. We strongly believe that using cloth nappies is healthier for your baby and the enviroment, and not to mention your pocket. You just have to find the right nappy!
